Unlock the secret to a vibrant spring lawn: The timely application of lime
During the warmer months, anyone wishing to enjoy a stunning lawn should concentrate on fertilization, watering, and mowing. Mulching, which involves leaving a thin layer of grass after mowing, should also be considered. This method supplies the soil with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium and also restricts weed growth.

There's a way to benefit our lawn much earlier, specifically during the pre-spring, before the grass growing season - usually from mid-February to mid-March. This is the optimal time for lime application. The alternative option is during autumn - October and the first half of November.
How to lime the lawn effectively?
Liming entails spreading calcium carbonate fertilizer. Crucially, the quantity should be adjusted according to the soil's quality (the instructions on the package will assist with dosing). It is advisable to determine the soil's acidity level before initiating the treatment if feasible. Liming is recommended if the pH level is below 5.5. The measurement can be taken using a regular strip pH meter.
Do not overdo liming - typically, the application should be repeated every three years. It's also important to wait at least a month after liming before deploying any other methods or substances to fertilize the grass.
What can we anticipate after a properly implemented lime treatment? It leads to an increase in soil pH, which has a direct positive impact on its quality. Slightly acidic soil will absorb nutrients from fertilizers more effectively, which will subsequently be absorbed by the grass. This strengthened grass will grow more quickly, the stems will be resilient, and the color will be more vibrant.
