If overeating is infrequent, for example, during the holiday season, it isn’t usually a cause for concern. However, when it becomes a regular occurrence because you just can't resist food, it might indicate an underlying issue with nutrition, often caused by poor mental health.

Overeating can have consequences that are not often discussed. The initial effect is usually weight gain and obesity, resulting from a calorie surplus in your diet. Overeating can lead to elevated cholesterol levels, a fatty liver, or generally feeling unwell. If you’re a food enthusiast prone to overeating, try eating as slowly as possible. This trick can fool your brain into thinking you're full from eating for an extended period.

How to cope with overeating?

Feeling bloated and facing digestive issues are unpleasant afflictions we want to shake off as quickly as possible. Before resorting to pharmacy products, why not try a few home remedies that can help alleviate the sensation of overeating within moments.

The first suggestion is to go for a walk. Despite feeling heavy and sluggish, it’s beneficial to stand, which relieves pressure on the stomach and encourages blood circulation. In the meantime, drink warm, unsweetened tea or fruit compote. These warm beverages aid digestion. If overeating has left you with heartburn, then drinking water with a pinch of baking soda and a few drops of lemon can help. The alkaline reaction will neutralize the stomach acid, causing discomfort in the esophagus.

It's common knowledge that herbs are excellent for various digestive inconveniences. Teas with chamomile, mint, dill, or wild rose should help alleviate overeating symptoms. If abdominal pain persists, warm compresses and baths can help. Warm water can ease the pain and aid relaxation. The last resort would be taking medication from the pharmacy, but trying some natural remedies first would be worthwhile.
