The detention of the spy was reported by the press centre of the Security Service of Ukraine. It is known that the man "was supposed to prepare a massive attack" on Ukrainian positions around the Donetsk region.

It is known that the detainee provided the location of the artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These units control the actions of the Russian occupiers, attacking Ukrainian positions from the eastern front.

Additionally, the spy also wanted to determine the exact coordinates of the air defence systems stationed in the Konstantinovka area.

He used Telegram to contact the Russians

It is known that the detainee contacted his Russian handlers using a secret group on the Telegram communicator. It is known that the spy is a 49-year-old resident of the Donetsk region.

According to the information provided by the services, the man is an advocate of the "ideological Russification of Ukraine." He had been moving around military facilities for a long time. He was caught while trying to cross a checkpoint of the Ukrainian armed forces.

The authorities have evidence of the 49-year-old's criminal activity. During the arrest, he had a phone on which investigators found messages addressed to his handlers. The man is now in custody. He faces a very harsh penalty.

Unauthorised dissemination of information about the movement, relocation, or deployment of Ukrainian armed forces, committed under martial law can lead to imprisonment for 8 years.
