"Last night, the Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed the Project 266-M minesweeper 'Kowrovets,' which belonged to the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The Navy and its comrades-in-arms continue to bring us closer to victory," reads a statement from the Ukrainian Navy.

The "Kowrovets" was launched 50 years ago

The "Kowrovets" is a Russian naval minesweeper that was commissioned in 1974. It was intended to clear navigable waters of mines using towed sweepers and lay mines.

So far, no other sources confirm the Ukrainian Navy's success. In the past, not all of Kyiv's reports in this matter have been confirmed.
