Ukrainian general's stark warning: Unity key to thwarting Russian victory
The commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, General Oleksandr Pavluk, addressed Ukrainians in stark terms. He believes that if his fellow citizens' attitude towards military service doesn't shift, Russia could emerge victorious in the war. "The enemy can defeat us with the help of Ukrainians themselves," he said.

"Why can the enemy defeat us with the help of Ukrainians themselves? Masterclass in the art of war involves disrupting the enemy's plans and beating them without mobilising troops for battle," General Oleksandr Pavluk posted on Facebook.

Pavluk mentioned that in recent months, the Russians have adeptly applied ancient Chinese military strategies.
"Unfortunately, some of our citizens have stopped realising that their actions and public declarations have turned into a significant weapon for the enemy. The enemy has not given up, will not give up, and will never give up its intention to destroy Ukraine," emphasised the ground forces commander.
The General reminded people about the content and sentiments shared on social media in Ukraine two years ago and contrasted it with the current discourse. "From the queues at military enlistment offices and the meme 'if to serve, then everyone is sick, and if to fight, then everyone is healthy', we've moved to harassing military personnel from enlistment offices and offering moral support to those who avoid defending Ukraine," he observed.
General accuses media and bloggers
Pawluk noted that two years ago, even without a fraction of today's air defence systems, weaponry, and experience in full-scale war, the Ukrainian populace thoroughly grasped the significance of disrupting mobilisation in Russia. "We celebrated every recruitment office set ablaze and delighted in watching the burgeoning ranks of those dodging conscription, panicking and escaping to Georgia and Kazakhstan," he said.
According to the general, "bloggers and media" have regrettably played a part in dismantling this unity among Ukrainians with reports about the "unfortunate who drowned in the Tisa," whilst fleeing mobilisation.
Discusses "military strategy of ancient China"
He explained that the media show no interest in content "regarding the operations of recruitment offices, the details of military service, and the necessity of serving." "As it stands, recruitment offices and their guard companies are largely manned by soldiers who have been debilitated by the war and are considered unfit for combat duties. How has it become acceptable to view these individuals, who have been through unimaginable horrors, as foes and label them 'cannibals'?" asked the general.
"Turning the army against civilians is one of the tenets of the military strategy of ancient China," General Pavluk recalled.
"Thus, before we circulate another story of 'human rights violations' and the plight of the 'unfortunate dodgers', we must consider: who does this narrative benefit in the war? Certainly not Ukraine," he declared.
