The problems of the Ukrainian army have never been so serious. A Ukrainian commander has reported that the situation at the front is "the most dangerous since the beginning of the full-scale war." Experts point to two critical months.

Major Maksym Zhoryn of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in a post on Telegram, states that the current situation at the front is "the most dangerous since the beginning of the full-scale war". "In 2022, we encountered an outdated Russian army, with a lack of officers having combat experience. But today, we're up against a different force because the enemy learns and evolves," the military official writes.

According to him, the Ukrainian army lost significant time by delaying mobilization. During this period, Russian troops prepared for a "new offensive." Zhoryn notes that although he does not know the precise scenarios, Russians could simultaneously make headway in Kharkiv, the south of the country, Donbas, or even all these areas.

The military official also emphasized that he did not write this to cause panic, as he was convinced that the Ukrainians could surmount all the challenges. "Preparations are underway. We will exert our utmost efforts. It's crucial that the entire country is equally involved and prepares alongside us," Zhoryn concluded.

The war in Ukraine. "These months are to be critical"

Union, citing experts, emphasizes that Ukrainians should stabilize their defence line as soon as possible. According to military experts, May and June are "critical". The success of the Ukrainian army relies on the rate at which they receive Western weapons. According to Unian's sources, if the Ukrainians endure these two months, then with Western support, they could stabilize the front line by mid-summer.

It's worth noting that in recent days, Russians have managed to breach the Ukrainian defence line north of Avdiivka and progress towards the town of Ocheretyn, expanding their control over approximately 320 square km of territory. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) conveys that they are now preparing to assault the town of Chasiv Yar, where they hold a significant numerical advantage. The American think tank has also highlighted Russian army advances in the Donetsk region.
