Ukrainian forces eliminate Russian missile system amid rising tensions

Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, announced on Saturday the success of the Ukrainian armed forces. Soldiers of the Ukrainian National Guard successfully destroyed the Russian Buk M-1 anti-aircraft missile system. This technologically advanced system is valued at approximately £8 million.

As Klymenko shared on social media, drone operators from the 27th Pechersk Brigade of the National Guard destroyed the system.

The launcher, which the Russians had concealed in a forest, was discovered during a reconnaissance flight "on one of the most intense sections of the front," wrote Klymenko.

"The precise strike completely obliterated the enemy equipment. The cost of such a complex system reaches up to £8 million," emphasised the minister.

Equipment support from Pyongyang

Meanwhile, North Korea is supplying Russia with long-range artillery systems, which are being dispatched to the Kursk region, wrote the British newspaper "Financial Times" on Saturday, citing information from Ukrainian intelligence.

This includes approximately 50 self-propelled M1989 howitzers with a 170mm calibre and 20 upgraded multiple rocket launch systems, based on the Soviet-designed BM-27 "Uragan," capable of launching both standard and guided missiles.

Ukrainian intelligence confirmed the presence of this equipment after images of the North Korean howitzers, purportedly heading to Russia, circulated on social media recently.
