"In some sectors of the Lyukian and Wowczansk areas, as a result of fire and assault actions by the enemy, to save the lives of our soldiers and avoid losses, units have performed a manoeuvre and shifted to more favourable positions," the official statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine declared.

"The battle continues. Ukrainian units are thwarting Russian invaders from securing a foothold. Counterattacks are being executed, with the enemy under the relentless surveillance of our artillery and defence forces," it further noted.

The staff also highlighted the successes of counterattacks. "During the military engagements in this direction today, enemy personnel losses amounted to 162 soldiers, with 26 units of weapons and military equipment being destroyed or damaged," the report indicated.

Ukraine anticipates an attack in the Sumy Oblast

Before this update, General Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukrainian military intelligence HUR, provided insights into the current frontline dynamics.

He suggested that Ukrainian forces appear to be on the brink of stabilising the situation after Russia's ground incursion in the Kharkiv Oblast. However, General Budanov also cautioned that Russian forces are accumulating near the Sumy Oblast in the north, potentially heralding further military operations.
