Ukrainian drones strike Russian oil refinery in an overnight operation

Drones attacked an oil refinery in Ryazan, Russia. Media reports suggest it was an operation by Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR). A representative of the institution reportedly confirmed it.

The attack on the oil refinery in Ryazan occurred during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. Residents reported that around 2:00 AM GMT, they heard sounds of at least two explosions - reports Channel24.ua.

Videos documenting the moment of the explosion at the facility have appeared online.

In a statement published in the morning by the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, it was stated that air defence systems allegedly shot down six Ukrainian drones in four regions of the country.

Attack in Russia? Media: GUR operation

In an interview with the Ukrainska Pravda portal, a GUR representative stated that the Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR) was responsible for the attack.

- A military target in Ryazan has been hit. There is significant damage - the site quotes its source.

GUR usually does not officially inform about special military intelligence operations. However, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine emphasizes that refineries supplying the Russian arms industry are a legitimate target for Ukrainian forces.
