Ukrainian drone strikes ignite fires at Russian fuel depots
Further Ukrainian drone attacks in Russia. Since Friday evening, a fuel depot in the Kaluga region, which borders Moscow to the north, has been ablaze. During the night, drones also targeted a fuel base in the Tula region.
The governor of the Kaluga region, Vladislav Shapsha, announced on Friday evening on Telegram that an industrial plant in the town of Ludinovo caught fire due to a Ukrainian drone attack.
"A task force and rescuers are working on site. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties," he added.
Several explosions, then a fire broke out
However, local Russian channels on Telegram report that the attack targeted an oil depot in Ludinovo. Local residents reported hearing several explosions around 20:00 local time followed by a fire at the oil depot site.
The Kaluganefteprodukt oil depot, a subsidiary of Rosneft, is located in Ludinovo.
The site houses nine tanks with a total capacity of 6,700 cubic metres.
During the night, Russian channels on Telegram published images and information about a burning fuel base near the town of Uzlovaya in the Tula region. Fuel tanks were also reported to be on fire in the town of Dedilovo.
"Last night, the Tula region was attacked by the regime in Kyiv. The air defence forces serving under the Russian Ministry of Defense are engaged in combat operations. A fuel tank at one enterprise in the region caught fire," wrote the region's governor, Dmitry Milayev, on his Telegram profile.
