The Ukrainian army's offensive in the Kursk region of Russia is ongoing. The local Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a recommendation that "strongly advises" Russians against using dating apps in the border regions. This is directly related to the Ukrainian attacks.

"The enemy is massively identifying IP ranges in our territories and connecting to unprotected video surveillance cameras remotely, viewing everything from private yards to roads and highways of strategic importance," reads the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs statement.

"It is highly discouraged to use online dating services. The enemy actively uses such resources for the covert collection of information," it added. Russian authorities also recommend that citizens not publish recordings made during trips to avoid accidentally revealing 'objects important to the enemy'.

The ministry's recommendation applies to regions bordering Ukraine: Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod.

Ukraine's operation in the Kursk region

The Ukrainian army's attack on the Kursk region began on 6 August. Since then, Ukrainian forces have taken over 487 square miles of territory in the Kursk region of Russia, and the number of localities we control has increased to 93, as stated on Tuesday by the Chief of the Ukrainian army, General Oleksandr Syrsky.

Due to the Ukrainian offensive, over 122,000 residents have been forced to evacuate from the Kursk region.
