Ukraine's Zelensky urges Europe to unite for global leadership
Speaking at the 55th World Economic Forum in Davos, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that Europe cannot afford to remain in the shadow of its allies. "Europe must establish itself as a strong global player," Zelensky declared.
During his speech, Zelensky drew attention to the differences in military strength between Russia and European countries.
Russia has the capacity to deploy 1.5 million soldiers, while our armed forces consist of more than 800,000 personnel. France holds second place with over 200,000 troops, followed by Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. All other nations have smaller forces. This reality underscores that no single country can ensure its defence in isolation. The President of Ukraine urged unity and collective action to bring about meaningful change.
Relations with the USA. Trump inaugurated as president
Zelensky also referred to relations with the new President of the USA, Donald Trump.
During wartime, allies question whether the United States will continue to support them. However, does anyone in the United States ever question whether Europe might one day withdraw its support or cease to be an ally? The answer is no. President Zelensky highlighted that Washington does not perceive Europe as capable of offering anything significantly important.
The Ukrainian president's speech at the forum in Davos was a clear call for the unification of Europe and strengthening its position on the international stage. Zelensky stressed that only joint actions can bring about fundamental changes in the face of global challenges.
