Ukraine struck an ammunition and military equipment depot near Kursk in south-western Russia overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

"Enemy air defence activity and explosions at targeted points were observed" by Ukrainian forces, the statement reads.

Combat operations were conducted by specific units of the Ukrainian Navy, in cooperation with other components of the armed forces, the General Staff reported.

"Detailed data on the results of the attack is being determined. Ukrainian military personnel will continue to take all possible and lawful actions to counter Russia's armed aggression against our nation," the statement said.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Ukrainian forces had attacked a fuel base in Kursk the day before; according to intelligence reports, a fire broke out at the facility.
