Ukraine grapples with nationwide blackouts amid energy crisis
The Ukrainian state operator Ukrenerho announced on Wednesday morning and Tuesday evening that emergency power outages were implemented nationwide due to a significant energy shortage. This shortage followed Russian attacks on power plants and a drop in temperature.

As announced on Telegram, from 5:40 AM to 8 AM Greenwich Time on Wednesday, the Ukrenerho distribution centre enforced controlled emergency power cut-offs affecting industrial and individual customers in all regions of Ukraine.
Energy deficit in Ukraine
The official statement clarified that this action was motivated by an increase in the energy deficit. This deficit resulted from the decrease in air temperature and the damage to energy infrastructure caused by Russian shelling.
Due to supply limitations on Tuesday evening, places like Lviv experienced blackouts, as the city's mayor, Andrij Sadovy, reported.
In Lviv, emergency power cut-offs have been enacted. Currently, parts of the city remain without electricity, the mayor noted.
