UK vows to bolster frontline as tension with Russia rises

- The war in Ukraine isn't just the front line for the Ukrainians, it is the front line for all of us on our continent - said British Health Secretary Wes Streeting. Earlier, Prime Minister Keir Starmer declared that he is ready to send British troops there.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting said on the Sky News Breakfast program that the government strongly supports Ukraine, not only because of the Ukrainians but also because of "the imperial expansionist ambitions of President Putin, which are also a threat to wider European security and Britain's national security."

Streeting emphasized that the Prime Minister firmly believes the war in Ukraine extends beyond a battle for Ukrainians alone, representing a crucial front for the entire continent. He referenced earlier remarks made by the British leader.

"Stop Putin from further aggression"

Before the extraordinary summit in Paris, Keir Starmer emphasized that securing lasting peace in Ukraine is crucial to preventing further aggression from Putin in the future.

The extraordinary meeting of European leaders was organized in the French capital on Monday, in connection with recent actions by Donald Trump related to the war.

The U.S. President is pushing for an agreement with Putin aimed at quickly ending the war. He also spoke with the Russian president about Ukraine, but without Kyiv's participation.

Sky News notes that Trump and his circle have been questioning the U.S. policy for three years, according to which the West will not negotiate without Ukraine's participation.

Pete Hegseth, the new Secretary of Defence of the United States, informed Ukraine last week that Russia would be allowed to keep some of the territories it has occupied, provoking outrage in Europe.

On Sunday, the British Prime Minister wrote in "The Daily Telegraph" that the United Kingdom is "ready to play a leading role" in defending Ukraine, allocating £3 billion annually to this purpose until 2030.

Starmer stated that the United Kingdom is prepared to support Ukraine’s security guarantees, including deploying its own troops if required.
