TV chef Duff Goldman reveals brush with death in drunk driving accident
Jeffrey "Duff" Goldman owns a bakery in Baltimore and stars in several shows on the Food Network, such as "Ace of Cakes," "Buddy vs Duff," and "Duff's Delicious Food". He also serves as a judge on "Cake Masters" and "Spring Baking Championship", cultivating a large following on Instagram. He recently shared a harrowing story paired with a photo of his bandaged hand, revealing that he had been involved in a car accident with a drunk driver.
"On my way home from the airport, I was pondering over what cake to bake for my daughter's birthday. The next thing I know, I'm bleeding and surrounded by inflated airbags," shared the father of a three-year-old.
"It's serious business"
According to Goldman, a drunk driver abruptly swung lanes on a country road and hit his car. Fortuitously, the pastry chef didn't sustain severe injuries. "I'm fine, but it's going to be a long healing journey," he shared along with a picture of his bandaged hand. He made it clear that "it's serious business" for someone whose livelihood depends on their hands.
Although Duff Goldman made it to his daughter's birthday party, he unfortunately wasn't able to bake her a cake. This experience propelled him to passionately appeal against drunk driving online. "There's no excuse for drinking and driving. Absolutely none. Use Uber, take a taxi, or call a friend. No exceptions. Please stay safe, friends. If you drink, don't drive. If you drive, don't drink," he advised.
