Trump's Hollywood revival: Aging stars take the lead
The new President of the United States will be inaugurated on 20 January, but Donald Trump has already begun to make changes in the country. These changes will not exclude Hollywood, a long-time supporter of the Democrats. To this end, he has appointed "special ambassadors," namely Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, and Jon Voight.
Before the elections, there were few supporters of Donald Trump in Hollywood. The most devoted advocate of the Republican candidate was Oscar-winner and Angelina Jolie's father, Jon Voight, who has actively supported Trump for a decade. On the list of supporters of the 45th and 47th President of the USA are also Hulk Hogan, Dennis Quaid, James Woods, Jim Caviezel, known for his role as Jesus in "The Passion," and its director Mel Gibson, as well as Sylvester Stallone, who did not actively support Trump. Stallone's sympathy for Trump was recalled after the elections when he appeared on stage during the America First Policy Conference.
It turns out Donald Trump knows how to reciprocate. Just a few days before the inauguration, social media announced that the new president had created a special unit to restore Hollywood to its former glory and remove it from the influence of foreign interests.
"It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California. They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE! These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!" – Donald Trump explains his decision.
Critics of this idea, and there will probably be many not only in Hollywood, point out that Donald Trump’s "guard" is already of quite an age (Jon Voight recently turned 86, Sylvester Stallone is 78, and Mel Gibson is 69) and they may lack the necessary competencies to carry out "reforms."
Interestingly, the appointed "ambassadors" themselves probably weren't aware of Trump's plan. "I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised. Nevertheless, I heed the call. My duty as a citizen is to give any help and insight I can," said Gibson in a statement to Variety.
