trump vows to ban men from women's sports, gains Musk's praise
Donald Trump has announced that he will "ban biological men from participating in women's sports," and Elon Musk has applauded his decision. Controversies around the 2024 Summer Olympics continue to grow.
The former President of the United States and current Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, stated that he intends to introduce a ban on biological men competing in women's sports. Elon Musk, a well-known entrepreneur and owner of Platform X, supported his stance. Controversies erupted following an incident during the 2024 Summer Olympics, where two athletes, who had previously been excluded from other competitions due to their biological characteristics, competed in a women's weight category.
Controversies surrounding female boxers at the Olympics
During the 2024 Summer Olympics, the fights of two female boxers attracted attention - Imane Khelif from Algeria and Lin Yu-ting from Taiwan - who had previously been disqualified from other events due to having natural XY chromosomes.
In one of the fights, Khelif faced Italian Angela Carini, who withdrew from the competition after just 46 seconds. The boxer stated that she had never been hit so hard before.
Donald Trump: "Men will not compete in women's sports"
Donald Trump appeared on the radio show "Clay & Buck" hosted by OutKick founder Clay Travis, where he expressed his views on the controversial boxing events. The former US president pointed out - in his opinion - the absurdity of the situation, describing the case of a young female boxer who had to withdraw after two punches.
- When you look at this young lady… you just see and think: "Oh man, what hit me? Like a horse kicked me!". I have never seen anything like this before, where after two punches she said: "enough is enough". It's absurd - he added.
Elon Musk supports Trump's announcement
Elon Musk, known for expressing his opinions on various topics, agreed with Trump, which he expressed in his post on Platform X. In the post, he commented on Trump's decision with one word: "Good". Musk's support added extra weight to the discussion and made the topic even more heated.
The International Olympic Committee previously defended its decision, allowing Khelif and Lin to compete in the women's category. IOC spokesperson Mark Adams emphasized that both athletes had already competed in the Tokyo Olympics and noted that stigmatizing athletes is not helpful. Adams called for the de-escalation of tensions and avoiding a "witch hunt."
