Trump's $5 (£4) million 'gold card' plan: A new immigration gamble

Donald Trump announced that the USA will be selling what he terms golden residency cards for $5 (£4) million. He mentioned that Russian oligarchs would be able to make use of them. Experts, consulted by money.pl, claim that this is yet another rhetorical move by Trump with a different goal—modifying the immigration system in the USA.

Donald Trump and the Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, announced the introduction of what they call gold cards, which will enable foreigners to settle permanently in the United States. The cost of such a card is set at $5 (£4) million. The President of the USA emphasised that the program is aimed at attracting investors who will contribute to the country's economic development.

Trump and "gold cards" for Russian oligarchs: "They can afford it"

He did not rule out the possibility that Russian oligarchs might take up the offer. - Hey, I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people. It's possible. They're not as wealthy as they used to be. I think they could afford — I think they could afford $5 (£4) million - Trump summarised in his typical style.

- The EB-5 program ... it was full of nonsense, make believe and fraud, and it was a way to get a green card that was low price. So the president said, rather than having this sort of ridiculous EB-5 program, we're going to end the EB-5 program. We're going to replace it with the Trump gold card - announced Howard Lutnick.
