Trump proposes relocating Palestinians to neighbouring nations
Donald Trump shared his idea with journalists on resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The President of the USA proposed a plan to "clean out" the Gaza Strip of Palestinian refugees. Trump wants other Arab countries, particularly Jordan and Egypt, to take them in.
According to Trump, relocating nearly 2 million Palestinians would help end the long-standing conflict in the region and create a "new beginning" in the Middle East.
During a 20-minute Q&A session with journalists aboard Air Force One, Trump said he had already discussed this idea in a phone conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan, and on Sunday, he plans to talk with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt.
- I'd like Egypt to take people - said Trump. - You're talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing and say, "You know, it's over" - he explained.
Trump praised Jordan for already taking in many Palestinian refugees, but - as he added - he asked the leader of that country to "take on more." - I’d love you to take on more because I’m looking at the whole Gaza strip right now and it’s a mess, it’s a real mess. I’d like him to take people. It’s literally a demolition site right now, almost everything is demolished and people are dying there - said Trump.
The President of the USA added that the mass relocation of Palestinians "could be temporary" or "could be long-term." He suggested that the United States could assist in organising new places for the Palestinian refugees to live.
Trump unlocks bomb deliveries for Israel
The same day, the Trump administration decided to lift restrictions on the delivery of heavy air bombs to Israel. According to the Axios portal, citing three Israeli sources, this decision concerns 1,800 MK-84 air bombs weighing about 900 kilograms, which are to be sent to Israel in the coming days.
The previous Joe Biden administration blocked these deliveries in May 2024 due to concerns about the fate of civilians in the Gaza Strip.
