Trump plans new rally in Butler despite recent assassination attempt

Donald Trump announced that he will organise another rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. It was in this city two weeks ago that an armed man shot the Republican candidate for President of the United States during an election rally.

"I WILL BE GOING BACK TO BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA, FOR A BIG AND BEAUTIFUL RALLY" - Trump wrote on his platform, Truth Social. He did not give a date for the event, writing only to "stay tuned for details."

On 13 July, Donald Trump became the target of a failed assassination attempt by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who shot at him from a distance of 140 metres during an election rally in Pennsylvania.

According to "The New York Times," the Secret Service suggested to Trump's campaign staff to avoid organising outdoor rallies.

It is unknown where in Butler the meeting announced by the former president with his supporters will take place. After the assassination attempt, the 78-year-old politician has only appeared in large halls.

On Thursday, the FBI director said during a Congressional hearing that, to his knowledge, it is unclear whether Trump was shot or if a teleprompter shard "grazed his ear." "No, it was, unfortunately, a bullet that hit my ear, and hit it hard. There was no glass, there was no shrapnel," the presidential candidate reacted to the suggestion of the FBI chief.

However, on Friday, the FBI issued a statement ultimately confirming that a bullet wounded Donald Trump. "What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle," the statement reads.

"I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening," Trump wrote a few hours after the incident in a post on his platform, Truth Social.
