Trump plans deportation centers along rio grande in Texas
The Trump administration and Texas authorities are contemplating the construction of deportation centres on purchased land alongside the Rio Grande. Discussions with the upcoming Trump administration involve utilising military resources for transporting migrants and developing infrastructure.
Texas authorities and Donald Trump's future administration are exploring the building of deportation centres on acquired land along the Rio Grande. According to NBC News, Governor Greg Abbott discussed with Tom Homan, Trump's future "border czar," the possibility of employing military resources to move migrants and set up infrastructure.
Will a state of emergency facilitate the use of the land?
The future Trump administration might declare a state of emergency to allocate funds for setting up centres and use state properties. The land was purchased by Texas Land and Natural Resource Commissioner Dawn Buckingham for approximately £3 million. Other planned locations include urban areas, which may bolster deportation activities.
Donald Trump's "border czar"
The President-elect announced in November that Tom Homan is to oversee the southern and northern borders as well as "shipping and aviation security." He stressed that the former ICE chief would be responsible for "deporting illegal aliens to their countries of origin."
In mid-November, Donald Trump expressed confidence that the 62-year-old Homan would "do a great, long-awaited job." Observers predicted that Homan would join the new administration as the person responsible for border security issues.
In an interview with CBS, Homan assured that the plans include "targeted arrests." - Based on ongoing investigations, we will know whom to arrest and where these individuals are most likely to be found, declared the "border czar" in the interview.
