Lieutenant Colonel George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police stated that the services "do not assume that it was a lone wolf attack." These words indicate that the 20-year-old attacker most likely had accomplices.
Bivens, as reported by "The Washington Post," appealed to the public to provide video recordings and photographic evidence. He also mentioned that after identifying the shooter, information is being gathered about him.
The media also quoted FBI Special Agent Kevin Rojek, who said that it is "surprising" that the attacker was able to fire several shots. When asked about the rally's security, he replied, "the Secret Service must answer that question."
Attack during Donald Trump's rally
Former US President Donald Trump was injured during Saturday's election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The politician fell to the ground after being grazed by a bullet. The District Attorney shortly thereafter announced that Trump was safe and the assailant was dead.
He also announced that one of the spectators was also dead, and another was seriously injured.
After this incident, Donald Trump posted a statement on social media.
I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania - he conveyed.
He added that "he wants to extend condolences to the family of the person who died at the rally, as well as to the family of another person who was badly injured."
I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening - he concluded.
