Trump edges Harris by 2% as Biden withdraws from 2024 race

According to the latest poll conducted by "The Wall Street Journal," the most likely presidential candidates are neck and neck. Donald Trump holds a slender two per cent lead over Kamala Harris, the most likely Democratic candidate for president.

According to the latest poll, Trump has only a two percent lead over Harris.

On Sunday, U.S. President Joe Biden withdrew from seeking re-election. At the same time, he endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris, stating that she should be the Democratic Party's candidate.

Although Harris is not yet the official candidate, polling organisations have already started conducting research. According to Friday's survey for "The Wall Street Journal," Donald Trump currently enjoys greater support but only has a two-percent lead over Kamala Harris.

Minimal difference

In the poll conducted among a thousand registered voters, 49% declared they would vote for Donald Trump in the November elections, while 47% said they would support Kamala Harris. The difference between the candidates fell within the margin of error.

The poll showed a smaller difference between the Democratic and Republican candidates than in early July when Joe Biden was still the candidate. At that time, Trump led the current president by six percentage points.

Currently, there is no clear front-runner in the campaign, so according to experts, a lot will depend on whom Harris chooses as Vice President. Many voices suggest that if she makes the right choice, she will show America that she leads a centrist policy, and a candidate from one of the "swing states" will give her a chance to win over local voters.
