A thermal blanket, which can be purchased at a pharmacy, is often called a survival blanket, Mylar blanket or life blanket. This product should be in every well-equipped first aid kit.

This thermal blanket costs just a few pounds and can protect the body from hypothermia and overheating.

One side of this foil is gold, while the other is silver. The silver side should be close to the body if you want to warm up. If you need to cool down, the silver side should be on the outside.

The Mylar blanket can help in combating the heat. Do you struggle with high temperatures but can't afford to install air conditioning? Rush to the pharmacy for a life blanket!

If you're fed up with the heat, buy a thermal blanket and place it in the window. Your flat will not heat up when the gold side is facing inward.

How to use a thermal blanket to fight the heat? nto.pl provides the instructions. Follow these steps:

Preparing materials:

  • Thermal blanket
  • Double-sided mounting tape with Velcro
  • Knife
  • Pencil
  • Ruler

Measuring window panes:

  • Accurately measure the dimensions of the window panes where you want to place the survival foil.

Marking dimensions on the thermal blanket:

  • Mark the dimensions of the panes on the surface of the blanket using a pencil.

Preparing the cutting surface:

  • Place thick cardboard or a wide board under the foil.

Cutting the foil:

  • Using the knife, precisely cut the foil to the desired dimensions. Cut the foil decisively to avoid fraying the edges.

Mounting the Velcro:

  • Attach 2.5-centimetre pieces of double-sided tape with Velcro to the corners of the panes on the outer side of the window.
  • Place similar pieces in the middle of the length and width of the pane, following the instructions on the tape.

Installing the foil:

  • Attach the prepared, well-stretched pieces of foil from the outside to the window pane.
  • Firmly press the mounting elements in the form of Velcro tape.
  • Make sure that the foil's gold side faces the flat's interior.

Function of the foil: The attached foil acts like a one-way mirror: neighbours cannot see us, while we can see what is happening outside in a slightly darkened version.
