Kenneth Mitchell passes away

Mitchell's work on "Star Trek" wasn't confined to one series. He also voiced several characters in the "Star Trek: Lower Decks" animation feature. Sci-fi and superhero fans will also remember Kenneth Mitchell's role in "Captain Marvel", which premiered in cinemas in 2019.

He leaves behind his wife, Susan May Pratt, and their two children, Lilah and Kallum. It was his family that announced his passing through an obituary posted on his Instagram profile.

Family bids farewell to beloved actor

"Kenneth faced a series of severe challenges related to ALS in his final five and a half years. Yet he always managed to find the grace and determination to lead a full and joyful life at all times"- we learn from the family.

Mitchell was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in August 2018. This dreadful disease rapidly progressed until, by October 2019, he had to start using a wheelchair. He publicly disclosed his deteriorating health condition in February 2020 during an interview with "People".

Mitchell's last acting role was as the character Joe in the series "The Old Man".
