Sofia Vergara dazzles in dramatic first at Emmy awards

Sofia Vergara at the Emmy Awards looked spectacular. The star, nominated for a Netflix series, stunned in red. She was impossible to ignore.

Sofia Vergara was not nominated for the Emmy Awards, the television Oscars, for the first time. The actress was nominated in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 in the category of "Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series." This, of course, refers to "Modern Family." This time, however, Vergara celebrated the success of "Griselda." For her performance in this Netflix production, she was nominated in the category of "Best Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology, or Television Movie." The statuette, however, went to Jodie Foster for her role in "True Detective: Night Country."

The actress looked like a million dollars on the red carpet, maybe even more. She chose to highlight her sexy curves with a red dress from Dolce & Gabbana that revealed her neckline. The entire outfit was completed with earrings from Cartier.

The nomination was a surprise for Vergara. For the first time in this category, a woman of Latino descent could win. For Vergara, participating in "Griselda" was additionally significant because it was her first Spanish-language production. "Now, knowing how it is to work on a drama, I can say that comedies are much easier. It's a great pleasure to go to the set and have fun, deliver funny dialogues, and then come home in good spirits. But when you do a drama, it takes a toll on you and your mental health," she commented in an interview with "E!"

"Griselda" is Sofia Vergara's first dramatic role. Let us recall that the Netflix series told the true story of Griselda Blanco, a Colombian drug dealer. Drug abuse, paranoia, and betrayals by her associates led to her downfall and the tragic deaths of her children. Trying to save herself, Griselda surrendered to the police, but this did not end her dramas.

Vergara noted that her character had numerous layers to delve into, such as her roles as a mother, a woman, and a drug lord who built one of the most successful cartels in history. Though she wasn't as well-known as Pablo Escobar, even he feared her.

The actress expressed that she never expected to find another opportunity as unique as 'Griselda' after her time on 'Modern Family.'
