The number of fatalities from shelling in the village of Nikolskoje in the Russian region of Belgorod, bordering Ukraine, has risen to four, the AFP agency reported on Monday, citing the head of the regional administration Vyacheslav Gladkov.

The war in Ukraine: the most important information in our live coverage

Attention! Many reports about alleged attacks and aggression by the Ukrainian side and the course of the war, which are provided by Russian and Belarusian state media, are probably not true. Such statements may be part of an informational war by the Russian Federation.

All the deceased belonged to one family.

"The terrorist attack by the Ukrainian armed forces cost the life of almost an entire family: the grandmother, mother, her partner, and her son, a 17-year-old boy, were killed," AFP quotes Gladkov.

According to him, only a little girl survived.

Earlier, Gladkov reported two deaths and four injuries.

In recent months, there have been regular shellings in Belgorod and the towns in the Belgorod region, located near the border with Ukraine (with the Kharkiv region). These attacks have intensified in recent days.

On Saturday, regional authorities reported the death of two people.
