Leftover food, coffee grounds, and tea leaves can clog the sink. If we wash dishes by hand, we've likely encountered clogged pipes at least once. When leftovers aren't cleared away, old pipes can start causing issues quite quickly. It's good to know that home solutions can be just as effective before resorting to store-bought products.

Many people recommend baking soda. However, there are other methods that can be equally or even more effective. To resolve a clogged sink, all it takes is five tablespoons of a popular spice and boiling water.

Clogged sink? Home remedies can solve the problem

For a clogged sink, some people use baking soda, others vinegar. These methods do not always produce the desired results on the first attempt; sometimes, the process must be repeated several times. However, these are not the only home methods to manage a crisis. This method is less popular but works wonders.

You only need five tablespoons of plain table salt. Pour the measured amount into the drain and add about 2 litres of hot water. The salt will remove food remnants, dissolve residue on the inner walls of the pipes, break down grease, and thereby unclog your kitchen sink. After a few minutes, the water should flow normally, and you've just saved money on specialised products or a plumber.

If the pipes are really clogged, add half a teaspoon of cinnamon to the salt. After boiling water over the spices, the sink will be unclogged even faster. Additionally, this will eliminate unpleasant odours and freshen the pipes.
