Santa surprise: Pancakes with molten chocolate magic
Holidays often revolve around chocolate and figurines, which can end up languishing in cupboards for months. Especially as many of them leave much to be desired in terms of taste. However, there is a way to transform them into something delightful.
These pancakes are a dream come true for any sweet lover. When you slice into the pancakes, molten chocolate oozes out, temptingly spreading over the plate. This sweet surprise will delight not only the young members of your household. It's perfect when you're weary of eating plain chocolate, and yet the cupboard supplies still seem endless.
Pancakes with molten chocolate
When chocolate Santas stare accusingly from the sweets cupboard, turn them into pancakes. Fluffy, American-style pancakes have captured the hearts of millions worldwide. With this sweet, post-holiday twist, they taste even better.
If you've run out of chocolate Santas, you can also use regular chocolate. If you notice a white coating on the chocolate, there's no need to avoid using it.
Just remember to freeze it - that's the key to sweet success. This ensures you don't end up with a single solid piece in your pancakes but rather an indulgently melting chocolate centre.
Ingredients:
- chocolate Santas,
- 225 grams all-purpose flour,
- 2 teaspoons baking powder,
- 2 eggs,
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar,
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil,
- 250 millilitres milk.
Preparation:
Step 1. Melt the chocolate Santas in a double boiler or microwave. Break them into smaller pieces to speed up the melting process.
Step 2. Spread the melted chocolate onto a sheet of parchment paper in blobs. Place in the freezer for about 2 hours.
Step 3. In a bowl, combine the wet ingredients - eggs, milk, and oil. In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, vanilla sugar, and baking powder. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ones and mix until smooth and lump-free. Let it stand for 30 minutes. Allowing the batter to rest lets the baking powder fully activate, making the pancakes more delicate and fluffy.
Step 4. Heat vegetable oil or clarified butter in a pan. Pour a portion of the batter, place a piece of frozen chocolate on it, and cover with another portion of batter. Cook on both sides for about 2 minutes, until the pancakes start to brown.
Step 5. Stack the ready pancakes on a plate. For decoration, you can add peanut candies or sprinkles. When cut, chocolate will flow out from the centre, immediately bringing delight to the faces of the household. Enjoy!
