Now, the head of the UN observation mission, Danielle Bell, has stated that it is the worst thing she has seen in her 20-year career. She spoke about the brutal torture and humiliation of Ukrainian prisoners in an interview with the Dutch public broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS).
It is horrible. It is the worst I have seen in my 20-year career, visiting prisoners on behalf of the UN. Torture is widespread and systematic. 95% of Ukrainian prisoners of war have been tortured, and this constitutes a war crime - said Bell, as quoted by Bielsat.

Russia not only tortures prisoners but also sends them to the front lines to fight for Moscow. The Russian state news agency reported that a Bohdan Khmelnytsky battalion was formed from Ukrainian prisoners who took an oath and were sent to the front line.
