Russian Superjet 100 crash kills three crew members in Moscow region

Russian services reported the crash of a Sukhoi Superjet 100-passenger plane, which occurred on 12 July in the Moscow region. According to preliminary data, three crew members died. There were no passengers on board.

In the Moscow region, a Superjet crashed, as reported by TASS and Interfax, citing sources in operational services. The plane was flying to Vnukovo after scheduled maintenance at the plant and crashed near Kolomna. It was a "Gazprom Avia" plane. Three crew members on board died.

According to preliminary data, there were no passengers, only the crew. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed their deaths and noted that there were no casualties among the civilian population.

The incident occurred near the Apraksino village near Kolomna; the plane fell into the forest. The aircraft was on a test flight. The Telegram channel Baza writes that before the crash, the crew sent an SOS signal, tried to land, made several circles, and burned fuel.

The plane was ten years old. Since 2015, it has been operated by Gazprom Avia. The last passenger flight was on 3 May, and then it was sent for maintenance.

The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) will conduct the investigation into the crash, with specialists from this service participating.

After the crash, a criminal case was initiated based on Article 263, Part 3 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic safety and operation rules for air transport, resulting in the unintentional death of at least two people).
