Much of the information shared by Russian media and government representatives is likely untrue. Such reports may be an element of the information war by the Russian Federation.

From the very beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russian propaganda has been actively functioning. Absurd claims, often accompanied by threats, are made by top propagandists on Channel Russia 1.

Russian media systematically portray Ukraine as a failed state ruled by fascists and nationalists. These narratives aim to dehumanize the opponent and justify military actions. Moreover, Russian propaganda often depicts Russia as a victim of Western provocations and aggression.

The latest example of Russian propaganda comes from Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia, who suggests that... Russia has not attacked anyone.

Well, we did nothing wrong to anyone. We did not attack anyone. Unlike the United States - said Matviyenko in an interview with the well-known propagandist Olga Skabeyeva.

Who is Olga Skabeyeva?

She is an employee of Channel Russia 1, one of the Kremlin's most loyal propagandists. She has been placed on the European Union sanctions list for the claims she promotes.

The 39-year-old host of the program 60 Minutes is known for its pro-Putin, anti-Ukrainian statements. According to experts, she plays a significant role in the Russian propaganda machine, and her programmes enjoy public trust in Russia.
