Russian general dismissed over false reports of victory

The upheaval within the Russian military remains ongoing. Reports from independent Russian bloggers regarding General Gennady Anashkin's dismissal are becoming increasingly plausible. The alleged dismissal is attributed to inaccurate reports about his victories in Ukraine.

Colonel General Gennady Anashkin has reportedly been relieved of his duties as commander of the "Southern Group" of the Russian army engaged in combat in eastern Ukraine. Military bloggers claim he was accused of fabricating reports about success at the frontlines.

According to the Military Informant channel, closely associated with the Russian army, false reports concerning "supposed deep breakthroughs" in military operations have begun to surface from the Siversk area, where Anashkin’s units are fighting against Ukrainian forces.

The pro-government Rybar channel on the Telegram platform alleges that Anashkin needlessly endangered the lives of hundreds of soldiers by sending them to the front without sufficient preparation and equipment.

The "Daily Mail" notes that neither the Kremlin nor the Russian army has officially commented on these reports. A source in the Ministry of Defence, cited by state media, confirmed the general's dismissal, describing it as a "planned rotation."

Russian military bloggers have supported the decision to remove Anashkin, hoping for better military operations and increased attention to soldiers' well-being.

General Anashkin assumed command of the "Southern Group" in May. In 2008, for his leadership of airborne units during the conflict with Georgia, he was awarded the title of Hero of Russia – the country’s highest honorary award.

It is important to note that independent sources have not corroborated this information, and the official position of the Russian authorities on this issue remains unknown.
