"The enemy has occupied Novovasylivka," conveyed the DeepState project. This is a settlement in Donetsk Oblast, located southwest of Pokrovsk.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has not confirmed these reports. In the evening summary from January 22nd, it was reported that the Russians conducted 55 assaults in the Pokrovsk region.

According to DeepState, the Russians also advanced in several other areas, including the settlement of Velyka Novosilka and near the town of Chasiv Yar.

The battle for Pokrovsk

The Chief Commander of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the army is doing everything within its power to prevent the loss of Pokrovsk. At this moment, there is no talk of encircling the city—the Russians have approached it from only one direction.

According to the Institute for the Study of War, the Russians remain relentless in their attempts to initiate a large offensive and are moving units from other directions to the Pokrovsk region.
