Russian aviation suffers heavy losses in Ukraine conflict

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Russian aviation has lost at least 626 various types of machines: combat aircraft, bombers, helicopters, and reconnaissance drones, reported the military blog Oryx, which counts visually confirmed equipment losses for both sides of the conflict.

Of these 626 machines, 415 were destroyed, 39 were damaged, and 147 were captured.

According to Oryx's calculations, the Russians lost 96 combat aircrafts (most of them Su-34, as many as 26, and Su-25, as many as 31), 137 helicopters (60 of which were Ka-52 Alligator and 34 Mi-8), and 362 various types of reconnaissance drones (including 177 of the Orlan-10 series).

Additionally, Putin’s aviation lost at least four strategic bombers: three Tu-22M3s and one Tu-95MS.

According to Oryx, since the beginning of the invasion, Putin’s troops have lost at least 15,878 airplanes, armoured vehicles, cars, and various types of artillery.

This includes 3,036 tanks of different types (the most numerous being 1,455 of the T-72 series), 1,337 armoured combat vehicles, and 4,007 infantry fighting vehicles.
