According to the Russian ambassador, Moscow is currently in an open confrontation with the United States and their allies. The diplomat believes the Kremlin must increase its missile arsenal to deter the West.

According to the Reuters Agency, the United States forecasts that Russia will produce more artillery this year than all 32 NATO members combined. Russian Ambassador Grigory Mashkov believes that Moscow, currently in open confrontation with the West, will have to strengthen its missile arsenal further.

"We are now at the stage of open confrontation, which, I hope, will not result in a direct armed conflict", Mashkov told the Russian state news agency RIA. According to the diplomat, "further steps to strengthen the country’s defense capability, including building up the missile arsenal, in order to discourage any potential enemy from testing Russia’s strength." will be necessary.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, in 2024, Russia is expected to spend 7.1 percent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on the military, reports Reuters.
