Russia scrambles as Syria revokes military welcome
The Russians have lost the support of the Syrian regime and must vacate their bases. Videos are circulating online showing Russian aircraft departing from Syria to airports in the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, ground forces are relocating towards the Humaymim airbase, which remains under Russian control.
Moscow is reacting to the revolution in Syria. Russian troops are no longer welcome after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime. The dictator has fled with his family to the Russian Federation. Many Russian soldiers will also need to follow suit and evacuate from Syria.
Photos published by Ukrainian military intelligence show the large-scale evacuation of Russian armed forces. In the photos and videos shared on the X platform, columns of vehicles with Russian soldiers are seen heading to the Humaymim base, which remains under Moscow's control.
Russia evacuates from Syria: Nervous military movements
On December 15, columns of troops of the occupying country continued to move from the depths of Syria to the bases in Hmeymim and Tartus, reports Nexta on social media.
But that's not the whole story. The Russians have not only regrouped their forces within Syria but are also trying to station all the soldiers there. Equipment belonging to the Russian Federation is being transported by military aircraft.
Russian military transport aircraft continued to shuttle from Syria to airfields in the Russian Federation, in particular to Makhachkala, Chkalovsk and Nizhny Novgorod, reported the Nexta profile on the X platform.
It should be noted that Russia has been guaranteeing the security of Bashar al-Assad's regime since 2011. Experts believe that Moscow's weakening, due to its clashes with Ukraine, led to destabilisation and the regime's downfall.
