Grant Shapps noted that Russia, taking advantage of delays in arms deliveries to Kyiv, launched an attack.
"So, very important that the West does not blink. And when you see what’s happened in Kharkiv, the second biggest city in Ukraine, it is because, I’m afraid, the civilised world took their eyes off the ball just for a little while, and we saw how long it took to get that package through the US Congress because of internal politics there, and this is the actual upshot," he said.
Russians push forward. Attack in the Kharkiv region
Russian armed forces attacked the village of Mala Danylivka in the Kharkiv region, the authorities of the Kharkiv region announced on Telegram on Sunday.
"Provisionally, five people were killed as a result of shelling at a public utility facility in one of our community's neighbourhoods. One of them is a resident." The injured were hospitalised, wrote Oleksandr Hololobov.
"The number of injured has risen to 15 people (...). Among the injured is a paramedic," said Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv region.
Earlier, the head of the Kharkiv region noted that the enemy continues to shell neighbourhoods in the area and destroy civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv and regional communities. The enemy's advance towards Kharkiv and Kupiansk was stopped, he stated.
Syniehubov thanked law enforcement officers, the Security Service of Ukraine, medics, the State Emergency Service, volunteers, and everyone who rescues and evacuates people under fire and counteracts the enemy.
