Russia and China have confirmed the futility of meetings on Ukraine that ignore Moscow's interests, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov while in China. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that Beijing advocates "for the convening of an international conference on Ukraine with the participation of Moscow and Kyiv".

Many statements made by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information war conducted by the Russian Federation.

Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, is in China. According to the media in Moscow, it's a "working" visit. The politician met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, and the discussions were planned to focus on "the situation in Ukraine and in the Asia-Pacific region".

Sealing Ukraine's fate?

Sergei Lavrov, at a joint press conference, confirmed that Russia and China have confirmed the futility of meetings on Ukraine that ignore Moscow's interests. We talked about the current situation around the Ukrainian crisis, he added.

Lavrov thus commented on the peace summit in Switzerland. At the end of March, Ukraine announced it could begin peace negotiations with Russia within the "Zelensky's peace formula" framework. At that time, Moscow - having previously assured that it also wanted to talk - responded that the plan was "pointless" because... it presumes the withdrawal of Russian troops from the occupied territories of Ukraine.

- We and our Chinese friends clearly state the need to consider the justified concerns of all parties involved, primarily security. In this context, my Chinese colleagues and I have confirmed our conclusion that any international events are futile, which not only do not take into account the position of Russia but are completely ignored by those who promote an empty, so-called Zelensky's peace formula and thus are completely detached from any realities, said Lavrov.

He added that Moscow is grateful to Beijing for its "objective, balanced position on Ukraine" and willingness to play a positive role in the political-diplomatic settlement.

- China and Russia must stand on the side of "honesty and justice" in international relations, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing. He added that China advocates for convening an international conference on Ukraine with the participation of Moscow and Kyiv.

- As permanent members of the UN Security Council and emerging major powers, China and Russia must clearly stand on the side of historical progress, honesty, and justice, Wang declared, ensuring that both countries "will continue to maintain close contacts in various forms."

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative also mentioned that Beijing "never adds fuel to the fire nor pursues selfish aims in international conflicts" and "firmly opposes unilateral sanctions that are contrary to the trend of global development".

The head of Chinese diplomacy conveyed that the meetings with Lavrov discussed Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
