The Portuguese federation is fed up with the attacks on Cristiano Ronaldo. In their 3-0 victory against Turkey, no fewer than six people ran up to the Portuguese captain, attempting to take a selfie with the star.

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Euro 2024 at the age of 39. Despite his age, coach Roberto Martinez has no doubts about his abilities and has appointed the seasoned footballer as captain and leader of the national team. It is already confirmed that Portugal, with Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks, will compete in the knockout stage.

Portugal has achieved 2-1 victories over the Czech Republic and a 3-0 win against Turkey. They excelled against the Turkish team, securing their place in the top sixteen of Euro 2024. Cristiano Ronaldo provided the crucial assist during Bruno Fernandes' final goal.

The Portuguese captain may remember the match against Turkey due to the persistent attacks by fans who ran from the stands onto the pitch. Security did not stop them in time, allowing them to get close to Cristiano Ronaldo.

There were six such intruders, each trying to take a selfie with Cristiano Ronaldo. As the match progressed, the Portuguese leader grew increasingly agitated. Most of the audience in the stands also disapproved of the intruders' behaviour, as the game had to be repeatedly interrupted.

The Portuguese Football Federation has reacted and appealed to UEFA to increase security measures around the pitches at Euro 2024. Attacking players on the pitch can pose a threat, and even if the intruders have peaceful intentions, they disrupt athletes' concentration on the game.

Time will tell whether Cristiano Ronaldo can calmly focus on his tasks in the remaining Euro 2024 matches. In the group stage, Portugal will still play to retain the top spot in the table against Georgia before facing a showdown for a place in the final.
