Is there anything better than toast? They're warm, cheesy sandwiches that can be whipped up quickly. Loved by both adults and kids alike, they're a staple. Unfortunately, toasters can become dirty rather quickly. Cheese drips onto the surface during toasting, and if not cleaned promptly, it begins to char. After a few uses, the toaster may seem destined for the bin.

There's no need to scrape or scrub to get it looking good again. Simply whip up a special solution, pour it into the hot toaster, and wipe away the grime in a moment. Learn an effortless cleaning hack.

How to clean a toaster?

Every toaster features removable heating plates coated with Teflon. This robust thermoplastic withstands high temperatures and is commonly used in cookware such as pans, pots, waffle makers, and toasters. Though Teflon is meant to be non-stick, stains and burns can still accumulate.

How do you get rid of gunk on a toaster? It's not as straightforward as you might think. A damp sponge should do the trick if the toaster isn't too grimy. But what if the toaster looks ready to be discarded? It can be salvaged. You'll need water, baking soda, and potato starch.

Take a cup and fill it halfway with water. Stir in 4 tablespoons of potato starch and a tablespoon of baking soda. Mix well and heat the toaster. Once the light turns green, pour the mixture into the toaster and "bake" for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, switch off the toaster and open it. Peel off the dried concoction and gently scrub it with a damp sponge. It'll look brand new. This dried mixture will lift all the grime off without harming the Teflon coating. It's the easiest way to clean a toaster.

How to prevent stains in the toaster?

Fat, dirt, and cheese remnants, which escape from the bread while toasting, gather on the plates. Missing just one clean can cause burnt spots to form on the surface. Want to avoid that? Line the plates with baking paper, and all the residue will adhere to the paper instead of the toaster. The toaster will remain clean and odour-free. Employ this strategy every time you use the toaster; stains will be a thing of the past.
