David Lynch is regarded as one of the most distinguished directors of his time. The creator of such works as "Twin Peaks", "Wild at Heart", and "Blue Velvet" died on 16 January 2025, just four days before his 79th birthday.
The news of the director's passing affected the artist's fans. Posts from people deeply moved by this information started appearing online. Matylda Damięcka also spoke out, publishing an illustration of the American creator on her Instagram profile. Many comments from Lynch's admirers appeared under the graphic designer's post.

The news of David Lynch's death was reported by, among others, "The Hollywood Reporter" and "Variety". The message also appeared on the artist's official Facebook profile.
"It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch. We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole'," reads the family's statement that circulated on social media.
In 2024, David Lynch confirmed that he was suffering from emphysema. The director never hid the fact that he smoked cigarettes practically all his life. He only quit smoking after the diagnosis. "I can hardly walk across a room. It's like you're walking around with a plastic bag around your head," the director told "People", describing what life with the condition was like.
