According to the Reuters agency, this donation is the largest single financial support Hastings has given to any candidate.
After Kamala Harris received the support of the majority of Democratic delegates to face the Republican candidate Donald Trump in November, Hastings did not hide his satisfaction.
"Congrats to Kamala Harris -- now it is time to win," he wrote in a post on the platform X.
Harris gathers support
On Sunday, US President Joe Biden withdrew from running in the November elections. He immediately also endorsed the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris. However, Democrats will officially choose a candidate at the convention in August.
The Harris campaign raised £67 million within 24 hours of Biden's resignation, the most for any candidate in a single day of the 2024 campaign.
Hastings co-founded Netflix in 1997 and stepped down as CEO in 2023. He currently serves as executive chairman of the Netflix board.
