Rare Michael Jordan card headlines $400k auction estimate
A super rare debut Michael Jordan card, along with a set of Chicago Bulls cards from 1984, is going up for auction. According to TMZ Sports, the price could reach nearly $400,000 (£320,000).
Heritage Auctions will oversee the sale of the 12-card set, which experts estimate at up to £320,000. The cards were first released by the Star Company in 1984.
The high price is mostly due to the presence of the Michael Jordan card, considered one of the most valuable pieces of memorabilia associated with his career with the Chicago Bulls. This card precedes the sought-after 1986 Fleer rookie card.
The card features Jordan during an attempt to rebound the ball in his first NBA season. It is in "near mint" condition, with a PSA grade of 8.5.
The other cards in the set feature Jordan's teammates from the 1984/85 season. Their condition is rated from "excellent-mint" to "near-mint".
The auction will start on 24th January. Collectors should start preparing their funds now.
