As recently reported by Spanish journalist Jaime Peñafiel, Queen Letizia has allegedly cheated on King Felipe VI. The couple has just publicly appeared for the first time since the scandal broke.
Queen Letizia was said to have had an affair with Jaime del Burgo, son of former politician Jaime Ignacio del Burgo, a businessman. At the same time, her former brother-in-law wrote Jaime Peñafiel, a 91-year-old journalist, in his book "Los Silencios de Letizia" ("The Silence of Letizia" - editor's note). The man was married to Telma Ortiz, the queen's sister, from 2012 to 2014. Del Burgo allegedly confirmed the revelations and disclosed that the relationship lasted for years, with photo and video evidence to support it.
Moreover, King Felipe is said to have known about the affairs with the lover because journalists informed him about them. According to Peñafiel, the monarch felt "devastated and destroyed" by it.
Queen Letizia has been cheating on her husband
The journalist also reveals that Letizia had seen del Burgo before meeting King Felipe in 2002. Peñafiel described this in his first book, "Letizia & I," where he emphasized that the man proposed to the future queen but informed him that she was seeing a "high-profile man in Spain."
Del Burgo allegedly helped Letizia with the wedding preparations and met with her the night before the wedding in a restaurant, where she asked him to "never leave her."
Letizia and Felipe made their first appearance after the scandal broke
The royal couple first appeared after the scandal broke at the Museum of Royal Collections in Madrid. Official photos show that the couple maintains a distance from each other.
Nevertheless, neither Felipe nor Letizia nor any other member of the Spanish royal family has commented on the former "El Mundo" journalist's revelations. He claims the king and queen are "just keeping up appearances for their subjects."
