Putin: We'll work with any US president after Biden steps down

Dmitry Peskov commented on Joe Biden's decision not to run in the presidential election. The Kremlin spokesman emphasized that the elections in the USA, unlike achieving the goals of the "special operation" in Ukraine, are not a priority for Russia.

Peskov stressed that four months remain until the American leadership election. This is a long period during which much can change. We must be cautious and watch what happens next, he added.

Peskov also reminded that Russia's leader, Vladimir Putin, called Biden more predictable and, therefore, a preferred candidate for the Presidency of the USA. He is a more experienced, predictable person, an old-school politician. But we will cooperate with any US leader who enjoys the American people's trust, declared Putin.

Joe Biden will not seek re-election

Joe Biden announced that he is stepping down from seeking re-election. "I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term," declared the US President.

The US President announced his decision in a statement on the X portal.

"And while it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term," Joe Biden declared on the X portal.

Who will replace Biden?

For several days now, the media has reported that Joe Biden will step down from seeking re-election this weekend. This was supposed to be due to the enormous pressure that became unbearable recently, informed the American portal Axios.

Biden wants his current deputy, Kamala Harris, to become the new Democratic candidate. "My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee," he wrote on the X portal.
