Putin lauds Trump, criticizes Biden amidst US‑Russia tensions

Vladimir Putin has praised US President-elect Donald Trump. The Russian leader stated that the future occupant of the White House is "intelligent and already quite experienced person." He used entirely different words when referring to the current president, Joe Biden.

Many reports shared by Russian media and government representatives are likely not true. Such reports may be part of the information warfare by the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Putin is visiting Kazakhstan. During a conversation with journalists, he criticised US President Joe Biden for creating "additional difficulties" for the incoming Trump administration. He referred to the approval of missile strikes on Russian territory.

Putin threatened the use of the Oreshnik ballistic missile again. Suddenly, he was asked whether the US decision could affect future Russian-American relations.

Putin praises Trump: "Intelligent, experienced"

The President of Russia stated that relations between Moscow and Washington could change when Donald Trump comes to power.

As far as I can imagine, the newly elected president is an intelligent and already quite experienced person. I think he will find a solution, said Putin about the president-elect.

The Russian leader also mentioned that Trump went through a tough ordeal when he was shot by an attacker. He also criticised the supposedly "humiliating, unfounded judicial procedures" to which Trump was "subjected" during the campaign. Let's recall that a jury in Manhattan found Trump guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in the criminal case related to hush money payments, making him the first former US president convicted of a crime.

Putin also claimed that the current US President Joe Biden only "escalates" the conflict. He completely ignores the fact that his country attacked a neighbour and occupies its lands.

Let's recall that Donald Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine within a day. However, he never indicated the means by which he intended to force Moscow and Kyiv to agree to an armistice. To see whether Trump's words hold true, we will find out in January when he officially takes the helm in the United States.
