Princess Charlotte's future title in question as Prince William's coronation looms

Princess Charlotte, the sole daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton, consistently draws a great deal of attention. Many describe her as a "born leader", and observers often comment on her striking resemblance to Queen Elizabeth II.

A significant change was introduced to the UK laws concerning royal succession in 2018. The previous principle of male-preference primogeniture was abandoned, resulting in Charlotte taking third place in the line of succession. This placed her as the first British princess in history not to be replaced by a younger brother in the line to the throne.

There's a lot of discussion about what Charlotte's title might become after her father’s anticipated coronation. The eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince George, would at that point be bestowed with the title of Prince of Wales. His younger brother - Prince Louis, would assume the title of Duke of York upon the passing of Prince Andrew, the current titleholder.

Could Princess Charlotte give up her title in future?

In terms of Princess Charlotte's title, several possibilities exist. She could acquire the title of "Princess Royal", currently bestowed on Queen Elizabeth's daughter, Princess Anne, but this would only be feasible after Anne's passing. As highlighted by the ex-BBC royal correspondent, Charlotte could also decide to retain her current title or she could choose to relinquish it.

"She might decide that she is comfortable simply being Princess Charlotte." It's quite possible that Charlotte will opt not to use the title of Princess at all as she grows older- shares Jennie Bond in an interview with "Ok!".

Given that William and Kate are keen to project a more accessible and contemporary image of the monarchy, and even advocate being called by their first names, it’s plausible that Charlotte could opt to follow their example.

What's your take on this? Will she make such a decision?
