FC Portsmouth secured a home win against Barnsley, finishing 3:2 in League One—the third tier of English football—on a Tuesday. Following the game's conclusion, both players and fans of the victorious team made their way to a local pub. Material shared on social media depicted the establishment dishevelled after the celebrations.

Tuesday, April 16, marked a significant milestone for FC Portsmouth. The showdown with Barnsley wasn't just another match; it was a chance to clinch a promotion to the Championship. The game brimmed emotionally, culminating in unbridled celebrations after the final whistle.

Eventually, with a 3:2 victory, FC Portsmouth celebrated their ascent to a higher league for the first time in 12 years. Fans, elated by the win, flooded the pitch, sharing the triumph with the players.

However, the celebrations didn't end there. Post-match, the Portsmouth squad and a large assembly of fans proceeded to a local pub. "The Sun" reported that the conviviality soon spiralled out of control, fueled by alcohol.

Hours into the festivities, the situation escalated to the point where a fire alarm was triggered, compelling the partygoers to vacate the premises. Videos that emerged on social media revealed the extent of the disarray within the pub, including smashed bottles, littered floors, and overturned furniture. Despite the mess, the celebrants appeared undeterred, moving the party to the pub's courtyard when asked to disperse.
After 44 games, FC Portsmouth sits atop the League One standings with 94 points, leading Derby County by eight points. The top two teams will ascend directly to the Championship, while those ranked 3rd to 6th will vie for the final promotion slot in the playoffs.
